MOLD RESISTANT TRIM
Mold-resistant trim board is one of many products designed to eliminate mold in the home.
Understanding that wood is one of mold's favorite foods; manufacturers are designing wood-alternative building products. The most common type of materials used in mold-resistant trim is vinyl and cellular PVC.
PVC cuts and is installed the same as wood but won't rot, chip, splinter or warp. It stands up to weather, bugs and especially mold. PVC trim still calls for caulking like wood but doesn't require paint although it can be painted. Some trim board can also be stained using an oil-based stain.
You can find mold-resistant trim for interior or exterior applications. It comes in a variety of colors and designs.
