Tip #29. What are Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs)?
ICFs are used as an energy-efficiency wall system unit for new building construction for foundations and above-grade walls. ICFs are constructed by sandwiching a thick layer of concrete between two outer EPS insulated foam cores. The forms are not removed after the cement is cured, resulting in low air infiltration, high thermal mass, and durability beyond comparison to stick-built construction.
