GAC systems use one, two, or three carbon beds/tanks where the radon is filtered out and absorbed by the carbon. Timely replacement of the beds is of utmost importance. Radon and other contaminants cannot be effective if maintenance has been neglected. The EPA does not recommend GAC systems above the aeration.
